ABOUT the institute

The National Institute of Technology, Sikkim is amongst the ten newly sanctioned NITs in the country by the Ministry of Human Resources Department, Government of India. NIT Sikkim was established in the year 2009 under the 11th five year plan. Situated at the Barfung Block near the Ravangala Sub Division in South Sikkim, NIT Sikkim is managed by the NIT Sikkim Society registered which is a registered society under the Indian Society act. The funding for the institute is made by the Government of India.

NIT Sikkim being one of the newly formed NITs as per the 11th five year plans implemented by the Government of India, is operated from the temporary campus at the Barfung Block near the Ravangla which is the Sub Division of South Sikkim. The permanent campus of the institute is under construction at Khamdong in Sikkim. The institute is managed by the NIT Sikkim Society. The admissions for the undergraduate programmes are conducted on the basis of the ranks scored by the students in the JEE Mains, prior to which AIEEE was the mode of selection.

Opening and Closing Rank
