7 Student Startups that make IIT Kanpur proud
Kanpur may not have an airport yet but flights of student entrepreneurs of IIT Kanpur seem to have taken off quite well. Here are 7 fabulous startups from here that seem quite promising:
- Vegley: Founded by Shivank Garg, this startup focuses on selling carbide-free mangoes. Carbide is one of the most common ingredients used to ripen mangoes in the market – even though it contains arsenic and phosphorous which make the fruit poisonous. The chemical is also used for gas welding! Shivank shared, “Our startup is based just 1 km from Azadpur Mandi in Delhi – the largest fruit and vegetable market in Asia. We have developed a technique to process products and determine what we buy based on rigorous research and experiments.â€Â
- AUS (Aarav Unmanned Systems): It is the 6-member team of IITians (Nikhil, Suhas, Vipul, Yeshwanth, Piyush and Prashant) that actually developed ‘drones’ instead of an IIN student. AUS has IP in both hardware and software to produce and control these drones which can be used for many things such as 3D mapping of large areas, and volumetric analysis of a mining excavation.
- Adurcup: Co-founded by Kushang who passed out from the IIT-K campus this year, this company promotes an automated hyperlocal advertising tool. At present, businesses in Delhi NCR can reach over 25,000 consumers per day across their region through this offline advertising tool along with over 3,000 travellers in trains.
- Shabdnagari: Amitesh Mishra has developed a free platform where people can make websites,  platform already has about 18,000 registered users.
- Apcegen Technologies: Founded by Amrita and Ashutosh Vyas at SIIC IITK, this company focuses on developing new scalable processes in microbial and mammalian systems. Alternate biologics to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis is just one of the several processes under development here.
- Tourepedia: Founded by Anand Singh Shekawat, Tourepedia focuses on youth planning trips.
- FoodMonk: Founded by Abhishek, this startup has tied up with restaurants in Kanpur and Kota to enable them to receive orders online.
Then, there are students in the campus who are making maverick career choices. Samarth is going into journalism while Mukul Joshi is pursuing his PhD in Autoethnography – to find out the pattern that leads to innovation and successful entrepreneurial ventures.
