Hey all, a good news for you guys, in their latest announcement, CBSE has eased the passing norms for grade-10 students appearing in this year’s Boards exams. CBSE has exempted students from mandatory separate passing criteria in both internal assessment and Boards examination.
CBSE, after a duration of eight years, has brought back mandatory boards examination for grade-10. And introduced a separate passing scheme, in which 20 marks are kept for internal assessment done throughout the academic year and 80 marks for Boards exam. The students need to pass both of them separately.
But since this year’s batch will be the first one to attempt the Boards after ruling out CCE (Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation) scheme and optional Boards thus they have been exempted from separate passing criteria in boards and internal assessment.
Students now need to secure at least 33% passing marks collaboratively (internal assessment and boards) to pass grade-10. The most important point to note here is that this exemption is given only for 2017-18 batch. And will be restored to 80-20 marks separate passing criteria from next academic year.
This is applicable to any additional subject taken by the student, provided that it has 20 marks internal assessment and 80 marks Boards exams. This rule is also applicable for students under National Skills Qualifications Framework scheme for five major subjects- two languages, Science, Maths and Social Science.
This is all for now and I promise to be back with latest updates, until then this is me Abhishek saying BYE.
