5 IITs Feature in the top 400 QS World University Rankings

Massachussets Institute of Technology sustains its top rank in the recently declared QS World University Rankings 2013-14. While the second position was grabbed by the Harvard University, the University of Cambridge tumbled down to the third spot. A different picture was visible this year in terms of UK institutions. Though of the top 20, six ranks were bagged by the UK institutions, the list also contained some relatively new names like Edinburgh and King’s College London.
In case of Indian Universities the scenario has remained almost the same with three universities in the top 300 and 11 in the top 800, including seven IITs. Enlisted below are the IITs featuring in the top 400:
IIT Delhi was ranked 222
IIT Bombay 233
IIT Kanpur 295
IIT Madras 313
IIT Kharagpur 346
The rankings are calculated on the basis of numerous factors like  academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio etc.
Some of the outstanding performers in terms of number of universities include:
US (144)
UK (69)
Germany (42)
France (40)
Japan (38)
The National University of Singapore, ranked at 24 is proclaimed to be the most elite Asian university. It is closely chased by the University of Hong Kong and University of Tokyo having ranks 26 and 32, respectively.
