The IIT tag again shines as an Indian origin IITian is bestowed with the degree of doctor of technology by the Swinburne University. He has brought laurels to the country as well by becoming the first Indian-Australian to have been awarded with such a degree. The creator of Primus Australia, Ravi Bhatia was ecstatic on receiving the award. Primus Australia is an extremely flourishing venture which spawns annual revenues of over 500 million dollars. Bhatia is also acknowledged for his association with National Broadband Network in sites of Tasmania and Australia. Overwhelmed Bhatia also put some light on how various Indian-Australian have been doing a fantastic job in improving the relations between the two countries. As quoted by Bhatia, “I would wish for more active and open involvement by the highly educated Indian professionals in Australia and I am going to start working to achieve this objectiveâ€Â.
Ravi Bhatia has various accolades to his credit. To name a few:
- He was the former member of Board of Directors of Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman and the Alfred Foundation
- He was also appointed as the President of the Australia-India Business Council Victoria.
- He also carried on the student related activities of a committee which aids the international students in Melbourne.
