New Delhi: Syntel co-founders Bharat Desai and Neerja Sethi have donated $1 million to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay to establish a new entrepreneurship centre in its premises.
Established under the aegis of the Desai Sethi Family Foundation (DS Foundation), this new centre will foster innovation and entrepreneurship in emerging technology areas such as Nanotech and Biotech.
The centre will be instrumental in coming up with new education and research programmes, multi-disciplinary courses, research partnerships, and research labs. Students at the centre will be able to transform their innovative ideas into practical concepts under the mentorship of IIT-B faculty as well as guest faculty members from institutions worldwide.
The Advisory Board of the centre will include faculty members, industry professionals, two international entrepreneurship experts and student representatives. DS Foundation will nominate the two international experts of the Board.
IIT Bombay already has an entrepreneurship cell since 1998 which has cradled more than successful start-ups.
