Satna school shines in CBSE Class XII exams

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class XII exams result 2014 saw some interesting trends emerging this year. The only two CBSE schools in India to have recorded a stunning performance in CBSE Class XII exams are both from comparatively smaller cities.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB) Prism School, Mankahari, in Satna  and the Kendriya Vidyalaya at Jalgaon in Maharashtra are the only two schools where all the Class XII students of the 2014 batch have scored more than 80%.

BVB Prism school is being considered an odd-ball in the high performing schools as it has a student strength of only 450 students and is situated on the outskirts of Satna – 23 km from the district headquarters. The Union HRD minister Smriti Zubin Irani wrote letters of appreciation to the school Principal Ashim Kumar Dubey and four other school teachers Vinod Kumar Mishra, Satrughan Prasad Tiwari, Bindu Sunil and Rashmi Pandey school appreciating the school’s ‘exemplary performance’ in CBSE Class XII exams.

The School Principal credited hard work of teachers and students for the school’s performance. “Situated in a remote areas has its constraints. We often face shortage of teachers but we try not to let it affect our students. We hold extra classes, remedial classes and even tests during holidays but our students never complain. Perhaps that is our biggest strength,” said Dubey.

However, the Principal wished that even though his students are leading on the academic front, they lack the exposure their urban counterparts are getting. Hence, the school tries to take students on excursions and trips. On August 1, the school had taken higher secondary students to see Lok Sabha in session and to meet the LS Speaker Sumitra Mahajan later.

BVB Prism School is the first school in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to be awarded accreditation by NABET under Quality School Governance System in 2010.
