New Delhi: ‘Where do you envision yourself when you are 20?’ – Jaipur girl Aastha Agrawal, a fourth-year Computer Science student at IIT-Bombay has set the targets higher for not just the girls at IIT but boy IITians as well. She has received a pre-placement offer (PPO) of Rs 2 crore plus – from everyone’s heartthrob Facebook.
Aastha did her third-year internship at Facebook in May-June 2014 at its headquarters in California. She was working as a software developer there. The social networking site picked her up on the basis of her performance during the internship. She is due to join the job in October 2015.
Right now, Aastha is at home for winter vacations.
Aastha’s father Ashok Agrawal is in a government job. He is an Executive Engineer at Rajasthan Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPNL). Her elder sister Pavitra is a Chemical Engineer too. Pavitra graduated from IIT Delhi.
Aastha, the star of the family, secured 7th rank in Rajasthan in National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) at school won the silver medal at the International Junior Science Olympiad in 2009. In 2009, she signed up as a user on Facebook too.
Aastha had secured All India Rank (AIR) 90 in IIT JEE 2011 and had secured 98% in Class 12 board exams.
Aastha had also secured a job offer from Google – the only other company she had tried for during IIT campus placements. But she chose Facebook as it has less employees and has a startup kind of culture and probably, it would be easier to make an impact there.
An alumni of St. Xavier’s School at Jaipur, Aastha shared that she has not met Mark Zuckerberg yet.
