The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Tirupati will conduct classes from August 5, 2015. The classes will flag off at a temporary campus in the outskirts of the temple city. Professor K N Satyanarayana, who is in-charge of IIT Tirupati, announced, “IIT Tirupati will use the premises of Krishna Theja Educational Institutions in Chadalawada Nagar (just outside the city) as its temporary campus).â€Â
In response to the questions on temporary arrangements and ongoing developments related to the new IIT, Prof. Satyanarayana said, “Arrangements have already been made for commencement of classes. By the third week of July, hostel and lab facilities will be completely functional too. IIT Madras is mentoring IIT Tirupati and hence, we will have some of the most senior and experienced faculty taking classes of students and deal with day-to-day activities of the institute.â€Â
In the academic year 2015-15, IIT Tirupati will have a student intake of 120 students – 30 each in the branches of Computer Science Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
Hostel for girls will be available in the campus itself while hostel for the boys has been arranged at the 21st Century Gurukul – just a few yards away from Alipiri situated at the foothills of Tirumala.
