We all know that only Top 1,50,000 rank holders in the JEE Main 2016 exam are eligible to sit for the JEE Advanced 2016 exam. Here is the eligibility criteria that you need to fulfill to appear for the JEE Advanced 2016 exam:
Age Limit
General and OBC category students born on or after October 01, 1990 are eligible for the exam. SC, ST and PwD category students are allowed a relaxation of 5 years. Hence, those who are born on or after October 01, 1985 can sit for the exam.
Educational Qualification
Students either need to be in Top 20 percentile of their respective Boards (in their category) in Class 12 board exam, or should have secured at least 75% marks in their qualifying exam. SC, ST, and PwD students can appear for the exam if they scores 70% or more marks in their respective Boards.
If the Board does not provide information regarding ‘percentiles’, you will need a Certification from Board stating that you are within Top 20 percentile. Otherwise, the CBSE percentiles will be used to calculate the minimum marks you need in CBSE Class 12 to be eligible for the exam.
Number of Attempts
 Students can appear for JEE Advanced only twice:
a) In the Year when they appear for the Qualifying Exam for the first time, and
b) In the Following Year.
