I have a news for aspirants from OBC category aspiring to give highly rated National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) in the year 2019. As per the latest update from HRD (Human Resource Development) ministry, the government has decided to include OBC quota in NTSE from 2019 onwards.
However, there is a point to note that this inclusion is only for stage-II of NTSE which is the National level examination. This inclusion of OBC reservation will be in addition to the already existing reservation of 15% for scheduled caste, 7.5% for scheduled tribes and 4% for physically challenged students.
The increase in reservation could very well impact the chances of students falling in the unreserved category, thus to counter this government is also planning to increase the total number of scholarships to 2000 than the current number of 1000 scholarships. To further add to the joy of students, the government is also planning to increase the amount of scholarship to Rs 5,000 in the next couple of years. However, the increase in amount for each grade is not specified.
As of now, students of Class 11 and 12 get Rs 1,250 per month under the scholarship, while undergraduate and postgraduate students get Rs 2,000. While for PhD students, the amount is decided according to UGC norms.
The changes are effective for registration for 2019 examination as the process of 2018 examination is already in progress. And for now, it is applicable for students applying for stage-II of examination which is conducted the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) while the stage-I of the examination is conducted by state governments. However, some states are already providing OBC reservation.
Well here I know that you are greedy for more information but for now that’s all I have, will be back soon with more information, till then this is me Abhishek from askIITians saying BYE.
Want to know how you can be among top NTSE Scorers?
Reservation is curse.. Talent and poor people are not getting any benefits..
