New Delhi: The academic session 2013-14 has been quite rewarding for the students of the Delhi Technological University (DTU). More than 40 companies have already visited the University so far and 265 pre-placement offers have been made to DTU students. Hence, DTU ranked #1 in the Best Colleges of Engineering survey by Outlook topping prominent institutions IITs.
Himanshu Jindal, fourth year student at the Department of Computer Engineering at DTU, bagged the highest pay package offered yet – of Rs 93 lakh (including $1,15,000 and 125 Google Stock Units) – from Google, USA.
Another US-based software company such as EPIC also handed out 11 job offers, including hefty pay of Rs 70 lakh ($1,05,000) to eight DTU students – five from Department of Computer Engineering, one from Department of Software Engineering and two from Department of Information Technology. Eight students were offered a pay package of Rs 19 lakh by Amazon.
Besides would-be techies, Golman Sachs has also hired a student at a pay package of Rs 28 lakh.
These raining job offers from American companies at DTU come at a time when no-show of American companies has dampened the campus placement season of the IITs.
The sharp hike in campus placements at DTU can be attributed to its strong industrial networking and highly industry-relevant research programs right from the undergraduate level. International companies of high repute are attracted by the structured curriculum and industry interface of students where project work, industrial visits and guest lectures that bridge the gap the difference between graduating students and job-ready engineers industries require.
A major highlight of DTU placements is that while leading companies are hiring fourth year students, they are also offering paid internships to third year students.
