RANCHI: The 50-year-old chairman of a private engineering college in Ranchi was kidnapped at gunpoint from Burmu, 22km from the capital, on Monday night.
Bhim Munda, a resident of Kadru locality, was on his way to home in his SUV when a group of five armed men stopped the car and abducted Munda at gunpoint from his car in front of his driver and a female colleague.
As per the two eyewitness  faculty member Simmi Sinha and driver Sahil Ansari, the incident took place at around 8pm when Munda’s SUV had hardly travelled 5km from the college. The driver and Munda’s female colleague are however safe.
Ranchi SP (rural), S K Jha confirmed the abduction and has ruled out Maoist participation in Munda’s kidnapping. The victim’s family has not yet received any ransom call, he further added.
