As the placement season approaches, it brings about misfortune for some and for some it opend doors to a new life. Top notch companies like Facebook and Google picked up various students from IIT last year, but this year it seems as if they have shut their eyes to the IIT and instead have approached the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A).
IIIT-A has already experienced 100 percent placement of BTech students in the session of 2012-13 with numerous elite companies visiting the campus including some prime ones like:
- Microsoft
- Walmart
- Yahoo
- Amazon
- Facebook
- Verizon
The most striking fact is that around 70% of the students get starting package of Rs. 5.5 lakh and the highest one being Rs. 60 lakh per annum. This year also, two final year BTech students have grabbed whopping packages of Rs. 60 lakh per annum from Facebook. Besides this, another student has been hired by Google as a student ambassador.
Undoubtedly, as per the present scenario the students at IIIT-A are sure to have a bright future ahead. But a peculiar thing to note is that this year Facebook has turned a blind eye to the IIT although 210 companies have registered at IIT-B this year.
Last year Facebook hired a BTech student of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology(MNNIT), Allahabad at a walloping amount of 1.33 crore per annum, while another from NIT, Suratkal was recruited for Rs, 1 crore per annum.
It seems as if Facebook has satiated its requirement of recruitment in the last years and is now looking for talent elsewhere other than the prime brands.
