The Government of India Bans Porn Websites

In one of the most remarkable decisions ever taken by the government of India, all porn websites will permanently be banned in the country from tomorrow. The debate over the possible ban by the government on all porn sites in India was in the pipeline for a while.
The government finally gave its nod to authoritieson Monday to go ahead with the ban.

The demand for a ban on access to porn sites in India was first raised after the increase in sexual crimes in the country in the past few years. The government however was forced to think seriously on the issue after December 16^th gang rape in the national capital.

Many social welfare groups have praised the decision taken by the government, which they believe will help in fall of sexual crimes against women in India.However, the ban has been snubbed by members of other social welfare groups who believe that banning porn sites is not any solution to curb growing sexual assaults against women.“Men must understand that women are not sexual objects. They should be raised to respect women. Banning porn sites will only result in the growth of sexual crimes against women in India,” said a member of one of the social welfare group who does not support the ban.
