Expressing huge discontent at PDP and its Parliamentarians from the Valley for keeping ‘criminal silence’ over the ‘barefaced discrimination meted out to Kashmir’ by the Union Government while allocating an IIT to Jammu and depriving the young Kashmiris on this account, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that it was a matter of absolute shame for the leadership of PDP that its Parliamentarians had exchanged the interests of the youth of the state for trivial, short-term political benefits.
While addressing the workers in Varmul, Omar said, “It were the Parliamentarians from National Conference who raised their voices both inside and outside the Parliament and got two Central Universities for the State, one each for Kashmir and Jammu as opposed to the wrong attitude and negligence shown by PDP and its Parliamentarians towards Kashmir.â€Â
The Chief Minister also added that the manner of obvious silence maintained by PDP and its MPs over this skewed and unfair decision of the BJP Government proved PDP’s clandestine understanding with BJP to create a rift between the Kashmir valley and Jammu. As stated by the Working President of NC, “Such tactics and tricks are being employed keeping an eye on the upcoming Assembly Elections in the State. For the purpose of electoral interests they want to preserve regional division in the State as was done in Parliament Elections.â€Â
The Working President of National Conference also asked, “PDP MPs have already started revealing their concealed agenda. One can only fear what could be in store for the people of Kashmir who were misled by PDP through hypocrisy and dead promises of speaking for them in the Parliament. What is PDP doing now?â€Â
Omar Abdullah told that for the National Conference all three regions of the State are equal without any prejudices and openly rejects this discriminatory policy. “Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh are equally dear to National Conference and the party will continue to fight for equitable development, welfare and justice in all the regions and sub-regions of the J&K,†stated Omar.
