Here are some of the JEE related questions Prudhvi Tej has to offer:
Why did you choose Engineering?
I was always highly interested in Maths and Physics. So, pursuing engineering was a natural choice for me after matriculation.
How did you prepare IIT JEE?
I did not follow any particular plan but followed an integrated curriculum for Physics, Chemistry and Maths from Class 11 onwards. I used to spend 6 hours in coaching class everyday – 2 hours each for Physics, Chemistry and Maths. I used to study for 6 hours at home too for practice purposes. Once a month, I used to take a full-length 3-hour mock test.
I completed my entire syllabus by August in Class 12. After that I discontinued coaching classes and studied for 9 hours at home for revision and practice. I also increased my frequency of taking mock tests to once every week.
Before taking a mock test, I would solve theory for 1-2 days and solve practice problems on topics I studied for 3-4 days. I must have taken 25-30 full time-bound mock tests to track my preparation level. During preparation, I would never try to cheat and look at answers without trying to solve them first.
What do you think were your strengths during exam preparation?
I took tests at regular intervals throughout 2 years of exam preparation. Hence, I was not anxious before appearing for AIEEE or IIT JEE 2015. But I also ensured that I do not get fatigued by taking too many tests just before the big day.
My other strength was keeping notes of what I study. This came extremely handy during my final revision. Chemistry was my weak subject but I focused on it during revision. I am glad about it as Chemistry made a huge difference to my final rank in the exam.
Tell us about your IIT JEE exam strategy.
Tim-bound mock tests helped to evolve the right exam strategy for myself. I focussed on getting more marks per hour rather than trying to prove myself by cracking tougher questions first. In the paper, I solved easiest questions first, marked the tough questions to solve them later, and skipped questions that had lot of calculations. Once I did 35-40 questions across sections, I came back to tough questions and solved them. In the process, I used to skim through the entire paper 2-3 times. I had practiced this strategy enough number of times before the final exam.
What tips would you like to offer for IIT JEE aspirants?
Practice is usually underestimated. When you work through problems, you understand concepts better and learn to apply them too. Take tests on a regular basis to track your preparation level as well as speed and accuracy in the exam.
