JEE Main 2014 Paper Pattern: No changes this year and facilitation centres too!
The Joint Admission Board (JAB) of the IITs has desisted from introducing any changes in the JEE Main 2014 paper pattern.  Hence, it will remain same as it was for JEE 2013. Whether it is about JEE Main exam pattern or about IIT JEE 2014 exam pattern or JEE Advanced exam pattern, the type of questions, scoring pattern, duration of the exam, and the selection procedure will largely remain the same as 2013.
JEE Main paper has two versions:
- Engineering aspirants will have to appear for Paper 1, available in both online and offline mode,
- Architecture or Planning aspirants will have to appear for Paper 2, available only in pen and paper mode or offline mode.
Both the papers will be of three hours and will be available in English or Hindi. Students in Gujarat can appear for the JEE Main paper in the Gujarati medium.
Paper 1 of the JEE Main exam will have three sections – on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics – with equal weightage. Each section will have 30 objective-type questions. Each question in the exam will carry marks. There is negative marking in the exam and one mark will be deducted from the total score of the students for each incorrect answer.
Paper 2 of the JEE Main exam will also have three sections – Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Drawing Test. For this exam, candidates will have to carry their own geometry box set, pencils, erasers, a clip board and colour pencils or crayons.
Since the online JEE Main 2014 paper pattern will be new to several students, CBSE will arrange for facilitation centres in the cities which have online test centres by March 2014. At these centres, students can go and get hands-on practice on the Computer Based Test (CBT) version of JEE Main paper.
