When it comes to eastern India, NIT-Silchar always stands at the top most position. This year, the award for the best engineering college in the eastern India was won by The National Institute of Technology. The ASSOCHAM award NIT-Silchar with the National Education Excellence Awards.
In the 12th Five-Year Plan the government has taken the approach to strengthen the quality of various universities and institutions. This February in New Delhi, ASSOCHAM had organized one day long national conference on the Excellence in Education. Those who have contributed in the holistic approach of enhancing the educational, development, research and innovation quality had been honoured with the National Education Excellence Awards 2014.
On Saturday, the sources of NIT-Silchar stated that the institute of national importance has managed to gain 10 out of 10 in the performance assessment among the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme conducted among various institutes across the country. This NIT has come at the fourth rank among all the NITs shortlisted in the programme. The sources also mentioned that this institute has been widely appreciated for the judicious use of the available funds, by the World Bank and the National Project Implementation Unit. In the joint review meeting that has been conducted in Delhi, this institution has been appreciated among the 192 TEQIP institutions.
One of the offices from the NIT Silchar placement unit stated that he appreciates that his journey of four decade has been covered in one of the top most technological institutions of this country. From the aspect of education, among the 11 departments offering degrees to students in various fields, including humanities, science, management and engineering, Silchar is known for being one of the institutions in India that offers diversified options. He also said to the press that this institution is quite proud of their alumni who have occupied and distinguished themselves in various positions in multinational, private and government companies.
