April marked the season of rains of ideas at IIT-Bombay where promising entrepreneurs, mentors, and investors shared their innovative ideas during the launch of I-ASCEND. ‘I-ASCEND’ is a joint flagship entrepreneurship forum formed with the IIT Bombay Alumni Association. SINE (The Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship) conducted the event, which is the technology business incubation center of the institute.
The event saw a series of innovative products being launched by the entrepreneurs at IIT-Bombay such as Express Bike Wash – automated motorcycle wash in two minutes, Digital Hot Gold Foil Stamping Embossing Machine, and Gaona Karaoke.
Proprietary Interactive Singing Interface was also introduced during the event. Used in a music app, the device can also be extended for other audio-applications where real-time visual feedback is required such as spoken language learning.
The device is used to browse songs of different genres.
Founded in the 1990s, SINE was especially formed to motivate students to opt for entrepreneurship over corporate jobs.
SINE has introduced a number of products. Some of which include an unmanned aerial surveillance system, solar energy products, science, robotics, and computer education content, electronic governor for engine fuel efficiency, computation fluid dynamics simulator, and audio entertainment platform etc.
These have been developed by the companies incubated at SINE. “We now intend to help other educational institutions in the country to set-up similar facilities to encourage entrepreneurship,†Professor Milind Atrey, professor-in-charge, SINE, was quoted as saying during the event.
