Top 10 Tips to clear AIPMT 2016: What you Need to Know and Do
So, you want to be a Doctor and AIPMT 2016 seems to be the biggest obstacle in success. Like a good doctor, study your problems, tackle them methodically and with precision – and you are sure to fulfill your dreams.
Here are some AIPMT study tips all medical aspirants must know:
1.      Important Topics for AIPMT 2016:
We all know that AIPMT 2016 syllabus is quite vast and at this point of time, you should focus on mastering important topics only.
In Physics, you must know Mechanics, Nuclear Physics, Optics, and Thermodynamics well.
In Chemistry, you must be an expert in Chemical Bonding, Coordination Chemistry, General Organic Chemistry, Mole Concept and of course, the Periodic Table.
In Biology, everything is important. But focus on Basics of Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Ecology and Environment, Genetics, and Morphology, Physiology and Reproduction System of Plants and Animals.
AIPMT is in love with tricky questions. Numericals are very important in Physics and Chemistry.
2.      Study Smarter:
Too many books do not mean that you will have more knowledge. They will only lead to confusion. So, pick up one good book for each subject (along with NCERT) and stick with it.
In Physics and Physical Chemistry, focus more on Numericals than Theory. In Biology, Botany has an upper hand over Zoology in AIPMT exam.
3.      AIPMT 2016 Paper Pattern:
Subjects | No. of Questions | Total Marks (4 marks per question) |
Physics | 45 | 180 |
Chemistry | 45 | 180 |
Zoology | 45 | 180 |
Botany | 45 | 180 |
Total | 180 | 720 |
Negative Marking | For each incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted from your total score. No marks will be awarded for un-attempted questions. |
4.  NCERT is your Lifeline:
NCERT (Physics, Chemistry and especially, Biology) books of Class 11 and 12 are actual lifesavers of all would-be doctors. We recommend you to focus a bit more on Class 11 books for AIPMT 2016. We also bring you easy-to-understand crisp AIPMT study material that is perfect for your revisions.
5.Practice on Previous Years’ Question Papers:
Irrespective of how many times you have solved questions of your AIPMT books, solving previous years’ AIPMT question papers always give you new insights about the paper pattern, topics and questions that are often asked, difficulty level of questions in the exam, your time management skills and how good is your strategy. Reviewing it is important part of this test taking ritual.
6. Mock Tests:
We highly recommend our All India Test Series for medical aspirants – which has been designed by experts to help you out. The results of the tests you undertake come with detailed analysis of your feedback and recommendations on how you can play your strengths and weaknesses to your advantage.
7.      Daily Practice:
Taking a full-length test and reviewing it is a lengthy process. Even when you have less time, do squeeze in some time to solve MCQs of the topics you have studied during the day from NCERT books or other reference books you have.
8.      DWMY Revision Strategy:
You cannot revise for AIPMT 2016 in the last 1 month and expect good scores. The tip is to follow the DWMY strategy for revisions. It means that the topic you study today should be revised tomorrow (after a day), after a week , after a month and then, after a year (oops…you don’t have a year now!).
Make flash cards for formulae. Also, understanding how a formula is derived makes it much easier to remember.
9.       Learn through Charts, Mind Maps, Cycles and Other Learning Aids
Biology has a lot of Theory to remember. It might become easier for you to remember names and other facts, if you make charts and mind maps and look at them before going to sleep every night.
Formula sheets and Periodic Table is the other thing that should get etched in your mind forever.
10.  Diagnose Yourself:
You are going to be a doctor…and you need to learn how to diagnose yourself. Keep a notebook of your Symptoms (mistakes you do when you take mock tests) and find their Treatments (how to avoid them).
Adopt Healthy (study) Habits…and you will surely be able to crack the exam. All the best!
