We live in the Age of Startups! Young and dynamic Indians are trading hefty salaries and big job titles for starting a venture of their own – and many have been successful in creating brands that have become quite famous. Many-a-times, the founder of the company himself or herself acts as the CEO of their company but sometimes, they vacate the post for some other highly talented individual who is better equipped to handle their business affairs.
Top Indian colleges that have produced some of the most famous CEOs are:
1. IIT Delhi
We all know that Vinod Khosla of Sun Microsystems is from IIT-D. But the new-age CEOs that have joined his league include Sachin Bansal of Flipkart, Kunal Bahl of Snapdeal, Deepinder Goyal of Zomato and recently, Pranay Chulet of Quickr.
2. BITS
Sabir Bhatia – the first tech entrepreneur of India who created the very popular email service called Hotmail – is a BITS alumnus. Recently, the Incubator Cell of Birla Institute of Technology and Science has funded, mentored and nurtured many businesses. Phanindra Sama of RedBus and Abhishek Nayak of Gharpay are some of the most noteworthy BITS alumni these days.
3. IIT Mumbai
IIT Mumbai is known for its well-rounded startup culture – and its presence has made Powai and nearby areas one of the favored destinations of new ventures. Rahul Yadav of Housing (who dropped in his final year though) and Bhavish Aggarwal of Olacabs are some of the most famous CEOs on the IIT-B alumni list these days.
4. IIT Kanpur
IIT Kanpur stakes its claim too in producing famous CEOs of present times. It is the alma mater of inMobi CEO Naveen Tewari as well as that of Naaptol CEO Manu Agarwal.
However, it seems that IIT Delhi is winning the race of producing the most famous CEOs. Well done, IIT-D!
