ABOUT the institute

IIT Bhubaneswar is one of the newly formed IITs which are established by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The functioning of the IIT Bhubaneswar started at IIT Kharagpur and later on shifted to the Bhubaneswar campus in 2009. The institute offers degree courses in B.Tech, M.Tech, along with the Ph.D programs. The session commences in july everyyear and the candidates are chosen on the basis of the ranks scored in JEE.

Admissions into various courses offered by the IIT Bhubaneswar are done through the JEE where by the students scoring high ranks are selected to be eligible to take admissions. After completing the class 12th board examinations students are allowed to sit for the JEE. As per the data available of year 2014, the total number of students who were selected for the admission procedure were 180, and 40 students in all the disciplines respectively and 20 in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. It is estimated to have an intake of at least 2,500 students in the coming 2-3 years and which will go up to 10,000 students by 2015.
