The National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar (NIT Jalandhar) is one of the youngest NITs in India. It was originally called the Punjab Regional Engineering College, Jalandhar. Today, it is ranked among the top 50 technical institutions by the Government of India in 2008. The institution has a campus sprawling over 154 acres, with separate institutional, residential and student hostel zones. The campus has a sports complex, playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, a 24 hour canteen and various other amenities.
