The National Institute of Technology, Puducherry also known as NIT PY, is India’s one of the newly formed NIT situated at Karaikal in the union territory of Puducherry. It is established as a part of the 11th five year plan by the Government of India. The institute is presently functioning from the Arignar Anna Government Arts and Science College, Nehru Nagar, Karaikal as the construction of the college building is under process. The students are admitted on the basis of the ranks of JEE mains. From the available seats 50% of the seats are reserved for the candidates of the home state of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam.

The entrance examination to get seats in IIT KGP is based on the ranks of IIT JEE. Before appearing for the IIT JEE, students are required to confirm their class 12th board marks with the concerned board and authorities.
