Photosynthetic bacteria are bacteria that can use light as a source of energy to produce organic compounds. Here are two examples:

Cyanobacteria (Blue-Green Algae): Cyanobacteria are a group of photosynthetic bacteria that play a significant role in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. They use sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into oxygen and glucose through photosynthesis. Cyanobacteria are responsible for a significant portion of the oxygen in the Earth's atmosphere.

Purple Sulfur Bacteria: These bacteria belong to the family Chromatiaceae and are commonly found in sulfur-rich environments such as sulfur springs, salt marshes, and mud flats. They use light energy to oxidize hydrogen sulfide to sulfur, which is stored in the cells, instead of producing oxygen. Their photosynthetic pigments give them a characteristic purple color.
