The 2s orbital differs from the 1s orbital primarily in two aspects: size and energy.

Size: The 2s orbital is larger than the 1s orbital. This means that the electron cloud associated with the 2s orbital extends farther from the nucleus compared to the 1s orbital.
Energy: The 2s orbital has a higher energy than the 1s orbital. In general, orbitals with higher principal quantum numbers (n) have higher energy levels. Since the 2s orbital has a principal quantum number of 2 while the 1s orbital has a principal quantum number of 1, the 2s orbital is higher in energy.
Additionally, the 2s orbital has a slightly different shape compared to the 1s orbital. The 1s orbital is spherical, while the 2s orbital has a spherical node in addition to the spherical part, giving it a slightly different appearance.
