Condensing water vapor into liquid water is an exothermic process. This means that it releases energy in the form of heat. When water vapor loses energy and transforms into liquid water, the molecules come closer together, and the latent heat of vaporization (the energy absorbed during vaporization) is released as heat to the surroundings. This is why you can feel warmth when you touch a surface where water vapor is condensing, such as a mirror after a hot shower.
