PQ and RS are two parallel chords of a circle whose radius is 10cm.PQ=16 , RS= 12.find distance between two chords lying on same side of centre.I know the solution for this question,but my query is : in the question it's not given that there is a perpendicular drawn from centre to the sides. Then, from where do we always consider the property perpendicular from centre to a chord bisects the chord?

Although perpendicular is not given, but even though if we have the circle so we can draw the perpendicular from it and use that property.
