Find the range of value of p for x^2-px+p+3 has one positive and one negative root

x^2-px+p+3 is the given quadratic equation. 
To have one positive and one negative root product of the root will be negative.

note that the function f(x)= x^2-px+p+3 will have one positive and one negative root if and only if f(0) is less than 0 (since a= 1 is greater than zero) due to application of continuity of f and f( – infinity)= f(infinity)= infinity.
so, f(0)= p+3 should be less than 0
or p belongs to ( – infinity, – 3).
