sir,electric field inside a conductor is 0.i do know that according to dv/dr=-E.v9potential0 inside conductor is same as that on surface but i feel it difficult to understand that when there is no electric field inside a conductor to do work how can we define potential there......according to work=force.displacement...

potential is an arbitrary constant throughout the volume of a conductor(including the surface). The value of the constant depends upon which point is takan as zero potential (for reference ).
