If the electric field is given by E=8i+4j+3k N/c.calculate the electric flux through a surface of area 100 metre square in the x-y plane.

electric flux = E. A
A = Area perpendicular
flux = (8i + 4j + 3k) . (100k)
= 300 units

Area vetor has direction in z axis
So A = 100\hat{k}
THen flux = E.A = 300 Nm2/C

Area vector for the given electric field is in z axis because  it lies in xy plane
Therefore as per the formula flux=E.A
                                                           =E(3)×A(100)
                                                    Flux=300

The electric flux is the dot product of Electric field and the surface area
or, flux = E.A
Now, area is in x-y plane, therefore, A = 100k
And Electric field is, E = 8i + 4j + 3k
Hence, flux = (8i + 4j + 3k).(100k)
                  = 300 Vm
