Isotropic means properties of the matter or medium is same in all directions. A glass slab can be an example for anisotropic.. Because what we see through the broader area is different from what we see through the smaller area..meaning refractive index changes

|An
isotropic medium is one such that the permittivity, ε, and permeability, μ, of the medium are uniform in all directions of the medium, the simplest instance being free space. all the amorphous solids are isotropic in nature , due to their irregular arrengement of particle .
anisotropic are the exact opposite of that , its diffrent in all direction , all crystalline solids are anisotropic .
