pH is a log of 10 measurement. So if you have a pH of 2 that is 10^2 = 100, and if you make that pH 4, the factor increase is 10^4 = 10,000. So just incresing the pH from 2 to pH4 gives 10,000/ 100 = 1000 times stronger.

Neutral is pH 7, so a base of pH 8 is 10^1 = 10 stronger base than pH7. So if you are mixing an acid of pH 1 to a nearly neutral pH 8, the difference in strength between the acid and neutral pH7 = 10^6 ions or 1 million times more positive ions than the neutral solution.

You then take the weak log number of the weak base over pH7 and get 10. Divide that by the strong acid number of the pH1 .......1,000,0000/ 10 =100,000 times more base is needed to neutralize the acid.

pH 1 = 1,000,000
pH 8 = 10

So addding equal volumes of bothe solutions will change the pH1 by only a factor
of 10/100,000,000 = .000001%, so the pH is essentially going to remain at pH1
