The complex ion[Co(NH3)6]+2is readily oxidized to[Co(NH3)6]+3. This is because although the ligands are the same in both the coordination complexes. But ln[Co(NH3)o]+2theCo+2has3d74soand ln[Co(NH3)6]+3theCo+3has3d64so. So, gain of electron i.e. oxidation takes place readily from[Co(NH3)6]2+to[Co(NH3)6]+3.
