We have equationx=40+12t-t^3When t=0Then x=40 nowdx/dt = 12-3t^2 when velocity is zero then t=2When t=2 then x=56 now we can find how long object move before come to zero 56-40=16m

AS EQUATION OF DISTANCE IS GIVE AS A FUNCTION OF T , DIFFERNTIATE THE EQ. WRT  T ON BOTH THE SIDE .
IT WILL GIVE YOU VELOCITY AS A FUNCTION OF TIME T AS SHOWN

WHEN BLOCK IS AT REST IT VELOCITY =0
THEREFORE PUT V=0 YOU WILL GET T=2 SECOND
NOW BBE CAREFUL
AT T=0
THE OBJECTS POSITION IS NOT 0
SO PUT T=0 IN EQUATION OF POSITION
YOU WILL GET 40
NOW, PUT T=2 IN EQUATION OF POSITION
YOU WILL GET 56
THERFORE DISTANCE TRAVELLED=56-40=16
THE UNIT OF THIS DEPENDS ON UNITS USED IN  QUESTION
THANK YOU
