which book is the best for modern physics?and could you suggest some important topics for jee mains?

Modern Physics by Arthur Beiser would be a good start. It has simple language and clear explanations. It is a good buy because you will need it for your first year UG physics course in college.
 
If you don’t want to buy that, I would recommend ‘University Physics’ by Sears and Zemansky. Awesome explanations!

Do all questions from Dc pandey modern physics book...its more than enough for jee mains. The book contains good no.of objective and subjective questions to clear all the concepts.stuck to it...solve it throughly.all the best...!
