Hello Student,
Stereoisomers (chemicals with the same connections, but different orientation) are broken into two main categories - enantiomers and diastereomers.
Anenantiomeris a stereoisomer that is a non-superimposable mirror image of each other.Enantiomers differin their configuration (R or S) at the stereogenic center. Enantiomershave identical chemical and physical properties in an achiral environment.Enantiomersrotate the direction of plane polarized light to equal, but opposite angles and interact with other chiral molecules differently.
Adiastereomeris a stereoisomer with two or more stereocenters and the isomers are not mirror images of each other.
