Dear Amarnath

differences are as below

  1. progressive wave is a wave that transfers energy but standing waves dont move hence no net transfer of energy.
  2. In a progressive wave, all particles have the same amplitude, but particles have different amplitudes in a standing wave
  3. Phase difference exists between vibrations of neighbouring particles in progressive waves, but no phase difference between vibrations of neighbouring particles in a standing wave
