JEE Main Paper Analysis 2014 Marks Distribution

Physics

  • 18 questions required very less calculation and were from topics that were common with JEE Advanced syllabus.

About 4 to 5 questions were lengthy but could easily be solved by students who were preparing for JEE Advanced too.

  • Rest of the questions were from topics exclusive in JEE Main syllabus (like EM waves and Semiconductors) and were easy for students who prepared for their Class 11 school exams and Class 12 board exams well.

Chemistry

  • 10 questions were easy enough to be answered just by reading them.

  • 5 easy questions required a bit of calculations.

  • 3 questions were factual.

  • 10 to 12 questions required application of concepts where many students make mistakes.

  • According to us, there was 1 question had no correct answer while there was another question, given options were inconsistent with the statement of the question.
