On March 2, 2022, NTA (National Testing Agency) announced that the eligibility criteria of 75% qualifying marks in Class 12 for JEE Main 2022 exam has been scrapped now.
But the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) was reconstituted recently. CSAB will conduct counseling sessions for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs along with the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) this year. And it released a notification on March 22, which stated that candidates need to secure at least 75% marks in Class 12 or be in the Top 20 percentile of their Class 12 exam results to be eligible for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs.
SC or ST students will need at least 65% in Class 12 exams to be considered for admission to these institutes.
It means that while students' marks in Class 12 board exams won't matter when it comes to appearing for the JEE Main 2022 exam, they need to score at least 75% marks in the intermediate board exams (or 65% marks for SC, ST students), if they want to get admitted to Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology, Indian Institutes of Information Technology, and Centrally Funded Technical Institutions.
