Meerut: City boy Shubham Chauhan topped Uttar Pradesh Combined Pre Medical Test (UPCPMT) 2014 in Meerut with 58th rank in the General Category. A number of students from Meerut were amongst the Top 200 UPCPMT rank holders this year. However, none could make it to Top 10.
UPCPMT 2014 was held on July 20 for selection of medical aspirants seeking admission in MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, and BUMS in medical colleges of UP, including government medical college, semi-government medical colleges and private medical colleges. CPMT 2014 results were declared on July 29.
Some reputed medical colleges like King George Medical College accept UPCPMT scores.
UPCPMT offers access to roughly 800 to 850 medical seats in government medical colleges. Most of them are MBBS seats and BDS seats are relatively fewer. Out of these 35 seats are paid seats or management-quota seats.
Many medical coaching institutes in Meerut claim greater success rate in the CPMT results 2014. Shubham has, however, given credit to regular studies and family support for his success. He expects to get admission in KGMU, Lucknow based on his rank.
Ritu Sharma, another student from Meerut who has managed to crack CPMT 2014 in her first attempt, said, "School studies in Class 11 and 12 should be taken seriously as it clears your concept. I got lower rank because I failed to manage my time properly. So, my advice to other medical aspirants would be to pay more attention to time management." She expects to get admission in KGMU or LLRM Meerut based on her rank.
