Uttar Pradesh Common Admission Test or UPCAT is an entrance test conducted for admission to all seats in Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) courses of the private medical and dental colleges of Uttar Pradesh. Total duration of a BDS course is four years and one year of compulsory internship.
A separate exam is conducted for MDS exam too, which has duration of three years.

Admission notification and information brochure for UPCAT BDS exam is available Arround April .
Application form and information brochure for UPCAT MDS exam can be obtained from participating colleges in January and February.
The last date to receive UPCAT application 2018 at the given address was May. Since it is provided as an Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet, students should take care to fill up the form as instructed, put it in the same envelope as it had come, and then fold it in the same manner.
Any damage to UPCAT forms – folded in a different manner, stapling it, pinning it, wrinkling it, tearing it, scribbling on it, wetting it or any other damage to the form may make it unusable for computerized processing.

Things to Remember
Use only a blue or black pen to fill up the form and shade the ovals.
Be very careful while filling up the form. Multiple shading is ignored by the scanner.
Form can only be filled in English.
Make sure your name, date of birth, and mobile number are filled in correctly. Apart from other details, students will also have to indicate their choice of test centre and dental colleges they prefer.
There can be no overwriting or cutting in the form.
Before submitting the form, applicants are advised to get the UPCAT application photocopied and preserve it for future reference.
Note down the application form number on the right top corner of the form too for future reference too.
Only application forms sent through ordinary post are received at P.O. Box 11. Couriers and speed posts are not accepted. No application form is received in person.
Students are advised to post their UPCAT application forms at least seven days before the specified deadline to make sure there are no postal delays.
Another way is to download UPCAT forms online from the official website, attach a DD of Rs 1,000/- drawn in favour of of ‘The Association of Private Medical & Dental Colleges of Uttar Pradesh ’ payable at Bareilly and send it to the ‘Co-ordinator UPCAT-Dental 2018, Keshlata Hospital, Delapeer, Bareilly (U.P.) Pin 243 122 ’ by speed post or courier.
Additional things to remember:
You have to fill this form with blue pen only.
You will have to attach any related documents with the application form while submitting it.
Documents that need to be attached include attested photocopies of:
Matriculation certificate
10 + 2 Pass certificate and mark sheet
BDS passing certificate
Compulsory rotatory internship certificate
Mark sheets of all professional examination of BDS
Provisional/Permanent dental registration of DCI / State Dental Council
Three photographs attested by a Class 1 Gazetted Officer or Principal or Dean of the college last attended by them.
If they are employed, they need to submit a No Objection Certificate signed by their employer.
Candidates will have to produce original certificates at the time of counselling, otherwise their admission will be cancelled.
Do not forget to note down the application form number for future reference.
Application is received at P.O. Box 11 by ordinary post only as stated above for BDS course. In MDS, you cannot download the form online and send it to the Coordinator by speed post.
The examination fee for BDS courses by private colleges in UP is Rs 1500/-. It can be paid in cash to buy the form at the participating colleges.
Admit card for UPCAT Dental exam can be downloaded from the official exam website from May, 2018. It is usually available to download seven days before the UPCAT exam date.
Applicants have to paste an attested copy of the same photograph that he or she pasted in the application form in the admit card too. Those who fail to do will not be allowed to enter the examination hall.
Candidate will have to download and print the admit card from the official website when available. At the examination centre, candidates may be allowed to enter with a duplicate admit card if they produce an identity proof, after proper verification.
For BDS:
UPCAT Dental 2018 will take place on May, 2018 in 11 cities. The time for the exam is 2 pm to 5 pm but the reporting time at the examination center will be 1:15 pm.

Applicants have to indicate their first and second preference of the test centre city in the application form.
For MDS:
Entrance exam venue is only in Lucknow or Delhi. The exact address of the examination centre is printed on the admit card.
For BDS:
Age: Candidates should be at least 17 years old on 31st December. Date of birth as recorded in Class 10 certificate of the candidate will be considered final.
Domicile: There are no domicile restrictions. If students fill other eligibility criteria as specified by the Dental Council of India, students from all over India, NRIs and even foreign nationals can appear for the exam.
Educational qualification: Candidate must have passed 10+2 examination from a recognized Board or University with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. They should have passed all the subjects and have at least 50% marks in aggregate.
SC, ST or OBC category candidates need to have 40% marks in aggregate to be eligible for the exam.
Students whose Class XII results are not yet declared may sit for the exam, provided they are able to submit the mark sheet at the time of admission to Member College.
For MDS:
An MDS aspirant must have:
passed BDS exam from a recognised college or university in India,
completed one year compulsory rotating internship from DCI-recognized centers,
has a certificate of good conduct from the Head of the Institution last attended by the applicant, and
is registered permanently with State or Dental Council of India.
Students who are already studying in an institution have to complete their course first and then only can seek admission in the MDS course through UPCAT.
Chosen candidates will have to submit the original certificates (as mentioned above)at the time of counselling.
For BDS
There is no specific syllabus for UPCAT BDS 2018 exam. The exam is however based on 10+2 level of study. ICSE syllabus, CBSE syllabus or UP Board syllabus of Class 11 and Class 12 for Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and English suffice for UPCAT UG exam preparation.
For MDS
UPCAT syllabus for MDS course will be same as prescribed by the University for BDS course. The questions will cover the entire BDS course and will be of the level of the qualifying exam (BDS). The subjects from which questions are asked include:

For BDS:
The entrance exam will have one paper with objective-type questions. There are 200 questions to be solved in 180 minutes, hence, speed will matter.
UPCAT Dental exam question paper is available in English only.
Each question will have four options. Only one will be correct.
1 mark will be awarded for each correct response. There is no negative marking in the exam.
UPCAT exam date 2018 for MDS exam was March 9. It was a two-hour paper conducted at Lucknow and Delhi from 3 pm to 5 pm.
The questions asked were multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Total number of questions asked in the exam was 100. Each question carried one mark and the total number of marks in the exam was 100 too.
There is negative marking in the exam. 1/4 marks will be deducted from the total score of the candidate for each incorrect response or for multiple responses in a question.
How to prepare for UPCAT entrance exam?
UPCAT entrance exam is more or less similar to other popular medical entrance exams like NEET (AIPMT). So, if you are doing NEET (AIPMT) preparation , you won’t have to do much extra effort to clear the UPCAT Dental exam.
However, one must pay attention to one’s school studies too as like all medical entrance exams , UPCAT also has an eligibility criterion that asks for at least 50% marks in Class XII boards.
It is a good idea to follow a timetable for entrance exam preparation. Your timetable should take into account Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus of the required subjects as well as any extra topics that you might need to prepare for the entrance exam.
For balanced preparation, do not ignore any subject that you do not like. Consistency and practicing UPCAT sample test questions are the keywords to crack UPCAT.

The result of UPCAT Dental 2018 will be declared on June , 2018. Students will be considered eligible for admission to a BDS course only if they secure a UPCAT cut off of at least 50% marks in the entrance exam.
For MDS
Result of UPCAT MDS exam was declared on 8th Feberuary , 2018 on the basis of merit in the exam.
In the merit list, if two or more candidates obtain equal marks in UPCAT results, preference will be given to candidate:
a) with higher marks in the qualifying exam (Final Year of BDS).
b) If the tie is not broken, preference will be given to candidate who is older.
Eligible candidates have to apply for the exam. Online counseling is held for those who clear the exam per the UPCAT entrance exam results.
On the specified date, candidates who have been allotted seats in online counseling will have to report to their respective colleges, deposit the fees and get their documents verified. Otherwise, they lose their claim on the seat and it will go to the next candidate on the waiting list.
Tuition fee for MDS courses is Rs 8.45 lakh per annum. College security fee, hostel charges and security fee, university exam fee and other such charges are extra.
For BDS
For successful candidates, online counseling will be done. UPCAT counseling dates for 2018 on the official website after the exam is over.
For MDS
A centralized counseling is done online for all colleges. One a candidate accepts a seat, they cannot change it unless they have opted to be on waiting list for a particular subject in a particular college. Students will not be allowed to switch their subjects or college after final counselling.
