IIT-Madras is hogging the limelight after its three proud students have successfully secured lucrative job offers at Internet giant Google.
The three students, Guru Prakash, Santosh Kumar N, and Kavin Karthik, are believed to have grabbed the highest salary packages
ever offered to any students in the recent history of the institution.
According to the reports, the three students from the institution have been offered a whopping annual salary package of $145,000
(approx. Rs 92 lakh). The very fortunate students received their job offers on Friday.
Guru Prakash on Monday expressed his gratitude to work with Google, which is quite famous among its employees for its overwhelming
work ethics.“I was one among the few matriculation-school students at IIT-M and always thought life there would be difficult. But it was
not so,” Prakash said.
The three students from IIT-Madras were initially recruited by Google as interns for only 3 months in Bangalore. They were interviewed
again by Google right after completion of their internship with the company.
“I could not finish solving many of the questions but they observe your approach, not the solution,” said Prakash, who originally
belongs to Coimbatore.Santosh Kumar N. believes that his tryst with Google helped him acknowledge his interest in programming.
“I always thought electrical engineering was my interest area and almost shifted to the branch,” said Kumar, who was also a part
of NIT before he realized his passion and shifted to IIT-M.
“At Google in Bangalore, I would finish a 10-week project in six weeks, and then pick projects of my choice to while away the extra time,
” he added.While talking about the great working environment at Google, Karthik said, “They have something called ‘Thank God it’s Friday,’
when no one works after lunch on Fridays. There are games, regular outings and excursions. When a company does so much for you,
employees put in their best.”
