The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organised a three day event to honour and applaud its achievers from the field of academics, science and sports. The CBSE achievers were felicitated by the Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani in the capital city of Delhi. Awardees from 20 different states of India got an opportunity to participate in the Prime Minister’s Speech at Red Fort and Independence Day celebration, a heritage walk and preparation of an e-book titled ‘Hamari Dharohar and Hamara Sapna’.
The CBSE achievers were invited along with their parents to a three-day event organised by CBSE. Forty eight students who topped science exhibitions held in 2013, 179 sports competition achievers of 2013 and 0.1% academic achievers of 2013 numbering 877 from every subject with declared parental income of less than Rs 50,000/- per annum were invited. But, only 515 of the total invited students were able to participate at the grand event that honoured their achievements. A personally signed message from the Prime Minister of India was given to each student to commemorate the occasion.
