High Court Orders Re-Conduct of NTSE Stage-I Examination

The National Talent Search Examination (Stage-I) is to be conducted again on August 24, with the results to be declared within 2 weeks, ruled Justice G S Sandhawalia of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is held in two stages, with the first stage being held at the state level and the NTSE stage-II exam being held at the national level.

The order was passed in response to a petition filed by Arundhati Dixit and others, alleging widespread malpractice in conducting stage I of the examination. As proof of their allegations, the petitioners pointed out that out of the 99 students who had qualified stage-I held in Haryana on February 20, 2014,, 46 students were from one school.  The State Council of Educational Research and Training  (SCERT) has earlier been directed not to conduct the NTSE stage –II examination till the allegations on the conduct of the stage-I examination were looked into.  The court has further instructed the SCERT to conduct the examination in a fair and transparent manner.
