Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati, also known as IIITG is one of the 20 IIITs being set up by the Government of India and is under a public-private partnership (PPP) mode. The institute commenced its operations in August 2013 with a batch strength of 52 and the new batch will join from July 2014. Presently the institute is functioning from the Assam Textile Institute Campus located at Guwahati. The permanent campus in under construction near the Guwahati airport. The PhD programmes are to be commenced from January 2015.
