Located at the heart of the country the IIT Indore was established in the year 2009 near a location at a about 25 km from the city of Indore. Also known as IITI, the institute is functioning from two locations, PACL Campus (Hardnia Khedi Village, Indore-MHOW Road) and IET-DAVV Campus (Khandwa Road). At PACL campus, Academic office including Dean of Research and Development (DoRD) and offices of Dean of Academic Affairs (DoAA) are situated.

IITI offers 4-year B.Tech programmes in several engineering domains. Admissions into all the programmes are done through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The postgraduate programs at IITI include Ph.D. programmes in engineering, humanities and basic sciences. IIT Bombay being the mentor of the IIT functions the ordination of several activities related to the establishment of the new IIT at Indore. The administrative cell at IITI comprises of the Director of IIT Bombay and many other faculties of the IITB. IIT Indore has its first director nominated in the form of Pradeep Mathur.
