Established in the year 2010, NIT Delhi is one of the 30 NITs in India. It is an autonomous authority under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The institute offers research facilities in several disciplines of Science and Technology, Engineering, Management, Humanities for advance learning and Social Sciences. The institute, before commencing its operations from the home state carried on its process at NIT Warangal and in the year 2010 it moved to a temporary campus at Dwarka and in June 2012 it shifted to the present campus at Narela, New Delhi.

The entrance examination to get seats in NIT Delhi is based on the ranks of JEE Main. Before appearing for the IIT JEE, students are required to confirm their class 12th board marks with the concerned board and authorities.
