NIT Rourkela is one of the foremost NITs of the country, being ranked 2nd among all the NITs. It has also been ranked 8th in the Dataquest Top Engineering Colleges list in 2011. The NIT Rourkela is spread over 1024 acres, making it the largest engineering campus in India after IIT Kharagpur. The campus has nine hostels, two gymnasiums, a full-sized swimming pool, a post office, bank, and a well-stocked library.
